Songs for a New Home is a coalition of musicians from around the world that want to help fund refugee support organizations by releasing new music from different artists each month. 100% of all funds raised go to projects that help refugee families settle into their new homes.
We work with small, reputable local organizations with good track records rather than large international ones. Our current beneficiary is the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM), which is a refugee support organization founded by Karen refugees. The Karen People are an ethnic group from southeast Asia, many of whom fled Burma due to persecution by the government. KOM currently serves refugees from all around the world, including Afghanistan, Ukraine, Southeast Asia, East Africa, Latin America, and more.
Here’s how Songs for a New Home works:
We release a new song from a different artist every month via our website, Patreon, and an email newsletter. Subscribers 1) receive new music by an international musician each month, and 2) get to help support a small organization doing great work on behalf of refugee families. Folks can become subscribers for anywhere from a dollar per month to, well, infinity.
Funds are set up to be delivered each month directly to our recipient’s Paypal account in order to make things easy and transparent.
If you would like to contribute a song to Songs for a New Home, please email it to songsforanewhome@gmail.com along with a statement of what the song means to you.
All audio qualities are accepted, from smartphone recordings to professional ones. We are especially interested in receiving songs from international artists, big and small. For example, if you have a cousin in Thailand who is a singer, or an uncle who is a percussionist from Afghanistan, please put us in touch!
